Flood damage property tax relief available through St Louis County – also help with wells and septics after the flood – see website
County staff have created an online resource page for anyone affected by this storm. It can be accessed at stlouiscountymn.gov/flood. The page includes a link to a map showing current road closures. It includes an online form for property owners to file damage reports with the County Assessor for possible property tax relief. It also has safety information for property owners with wells and septic systems that may have flooded.
For people needing help cleaning up flooded basements, free assistance is now available through the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (VOAD). The Crisis Cleanup Hotline is: 218-288-2213, and will be open through July 5. People also can be connected by calling 211.
Crisis Cleanup connects residents with volunteers from local relief organizations, community groups and faith communities who may be able to assist with flood cleanup and muck out. All services are free, but service is not guaranteed due to the overwhelming need. Also important to note, this hotline cannot assist with social services such as food, clothing, shelter, insurance, or questions about FEMA registration. Volunteers work free of charge and provide the tools and equipment necessary to complete the work.
